Clash of Clans
The new "it" everyone is playing, Clash of Clans. Young and old is enjoying this game about war and strategy.
Clash of Clans is a game that requires critical thinking and planning. Players build their own village, set up defenses and create their own army. Players then collaborate with other players to form clans. The aim is to attack other players’ villages to earn points to advance in the game. This game is played globally which means it is a very social game as it allows you to connect with people worldwide. This game is highly addictive and time consuming.
Some people may say that this game is not worth the effort however it is a very pleasant game for youngsters. This game has quite a number of pros which are: being able to recover after a bad event, being able to work in teams, teamwork is key as it give you a sense of belonging and being able to analyse and keep track of a number of info at once.
I have concluded that this game is quiet educational as it gets you to analyse, plan your strategy however it is not a game kids can play without supervision because they will be in contact with quiet a massive number of strangers who could potentially be good or bad.
I had a really good experience playing this game as it had shown me how to think and I adopted strategy skills during the game which was a challenging experience but really put my thinking into gear.
Clash of clans is a game that is played by many people and has a lot of participants/is a multiplayer game, where players have troops that they must train and build a community as well as attack the other players and their troops for gold. You must build to defend yourself from getting attacked by other players. The troops are Tier 1,2,3 and Dark Elixir troops and heroes.
Tier 1- The goblins, barbarians, and archers.
Tier 2- The Wizards, wall breakers and giants.
Tier 3- The P.E.K.K.A’s, dragons and healers.
Dark Elixir- The minions, witches, lava hounds, hog riders, valkries etc.
Heroes- The barbarian King and the archer Queen. They are immortal.
To win gold, the player must build a mine and store places and elixir collectors. The gold is used to upgrade and build the defense mechanisms which also enhance things to upgrade. You also need to upgrade and renovate the hall so that you can reach higher levels. Then you want to earn the dark elixir so that you can upgrade and train your troops. There are bombs and troops to protect the community.
The clan is a group of players that work together to defeat the other clans and get stars according to the amount of damage they have caused. Gems are the currency and these gems could speed up the game.
This game could educate a young person, by teaching them to think fast as well as strategize on how to build your camp, it is also a great way to interact with different types of people and also gives an opportunity to work as teams. This will help children have an active mind and also give them a challenge.

2.Digital Literacy and Information Fluency
Mermaids: Animal Planet
The purpose of having the website about the findings of mermaids is so that everyone knows more about their surroundings and more about mermaids. Some people don't really know that mermaids exist, but they really do and the animal planet website is there to prove and give more information about them.
Anon, nd. Mermaid Spottings. Available at [online]:http://http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/mermaids/photos/mermaid-spottings/.
Animal Planet discovered mermaids and have provided pictures as evidence as well as information about the whereabouts. There are two scientists who have testified that they have discovered the mermaids and provided photos
The body of the mermaid that had been found had similar features as mammals as well as features that animals that live under water, namely;
Webbing between fingers (other primates do not have this)
Subcutaneous fat
Control of breath under water (up to 20 minutes)
loss of body hair
instinctive ability to swim
Highly developed brain
The response from readers was positive but also negative as there were some who believed that it was a lie and that Animal planet had staged the whole mermaid discovery. Although there was some negative feedback, some people actually appreciated the new information. in total Animal Planet managed to get the biggest audience in network history.

My opinion of the mermaid website is that it is useful as it gives information about what I did not know before. Its great that they have evidence and pictures as it makes it more believable. It could make a big difference in our lives.
In 2013 Animal Planet aired a documentary about the discovering of mermaids and everything in the history that shows that mermaids might really actually exist.
Most of the videos you can see is man made with technology - computers, photoshop etc. but some of the pictures and videos look like the real deal. The videos by Animal Planet were made to explain how mermaids may have existed all a long and how they may have evolved. These videos is based on a theory and not real life or facts.
My opinion about this site is that some of the videos can be real but for the other I can see that it is fake. I will believe it if I see it with my own eyes in front of me, but I do believe that there are creatures out there that must still be discovered or that will maybe never be discovered like unicorns, mermaids, fairies, minotaur, aliens etc. for now we have to believe in what is real and what we know that God created. For the rest, it will stay mythical.

Having a digital footprint means that everything you do on the internet can be traced back to you whether or not you have deleted it, it will stay on the internet forever. Employers can trace your digital footprint to see what kind of person you are and if they want you to be a part of their company, and if you left a bad digital footprint it will influence their decision in employing you.

1.Digital Citizenship and Digital Access
The center of social capital is social networks and their value. Social capital are the values of all social networks. Social networks refers to the people you know or are a part of your social group.
(Anon. N.d. About Social Capital. Accessed 16 May 2015. http://www.hks.harvard.edu/programs/saguaro/about-social-capital)
My perception of social capital is the amount of friends you have and how they are of a value to you.
Knowledge capital is an intangible asset that consists of the skills, experience and information of the workers of a business. Knowledge capital has nothing to do with the physical factors of production, but has everything do to with the worker’s skills, information knowledge etc. when a business has workers with skills, information knowledge and experience it gives the business a competitive advantage above other businesses.
(Anon. N.d. Knowledge Capital. Accessed 16 May 2015. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/k/knowledge-capital.asp#ixzz3aK1QmqYn )
Human capital does not only consist of one thing but a collection of a lot of things such as intelligence, wisdom, skills, talents, knowledge, training etc. that a person have. These traits and the extent of these traits will determine the success and wealth of a person.
